Damon Fowler

When Tab Benoit and his long time manager Rueben Williams founded Whiskey Bayou Records, Damon Fowler was just the type of Artist that they wanted to sign. Damon’s a touring musician. He is a troubadour whose music is steeped with soul and is a collective of many styles that make up the roots of American music. Musicians respect him as a singer, song-writer and player so much that he was featured in Butch Truck’s Freight Train band and was a natural fit for his current side gig as the guitarist in the Dickey Betts Band. Damon is Gospel, Blues, Soul, Reggae, Jazz, and Rock.

Damon’s 7th album, The Whiskey Bayou Session, was recorded in the Cypress Moss covered setting on the bank of Cane Bayou (French: Ouiski Bayou) in Houma, Louisiana. Damon’s unique guitar, Lap Steel guitar style, soulful vocals and vivid song writing stand at the forefront of this recording.

Damon began to build his legacy with the release of his first record in 1999 “Riverview Drive”, which was produced by guitar legend Rick Derringer. The record was followed by a few independent releases. In 2007 Blind Pig Records signed Damon to a three record deal. In 2013 Tab Benoit produced Damon’s third record for the label “Sounds of Home.” Damon then joined forces with guitarist, JP Soars and keyboardist, Victor Wainwright to form the roots rock group, Southern Hospitality. SoHo brought Damon even more praise with Creative Loafing magazine naming him the “Best Guitarist… And Slide Guitarist… and Lap Steel Player… And Dobro Player.” Fowler’s guitar work has been compared to Johnny Winter and Jeff Beck, while his slide guitar has a hint of the late Duane Allman.
